My love, Elise…how fast you’ve grown!

Where has time gone? This past year has been a whirlwind, but one thing we know for sure is there has been a constant source of happiness. Sweet little Elise. She’s grown so fast. She’s 20 months old now and talking, running, and eating with a fork. How and when did she get this big? What a blessing she has been. She makes my heart smile and my life complete….

New for 2013!

facebook

Thank you to all of those who have continued to support me and cheer me on during this past year. If you didn’t get a chance to read one of my earlier posts on my health issues, it basically said I was going on a photography hiatus for a while during my chemo treatments and recovery. I wanted to let everyone know I am now in remission, cancer free, and doing really well! I am planning on getting back into photography part-time (since I am still teaching art) in 2013 and I am very excited! I do want to mention some changes that I am making to my small business. I have decided to no longer photograph weddings at this time. I want to put more energy into being home on the weekends with my family. Weddings require a lot of extra work and some traveling, along with very long weekends away from my daughter, Elise. With that in mind, I am focusing on taking my business in a different direction. I will be photographing newborns, children and small families only. I am extremely excited about this because this is where my heart truly is. I started photographing children professionally in 2009 and fell in love with it. After having a child of my own and getting to experience what it’s like to be a mommy first hand, I know how important it is to document each stage of my daughters life with photographs. Since I’ve been a mom, I have felt and experienced love that I never knew was even possible. My husband and I find ourselves staring at pictures of our little girl after she goes to bed just because we miss her! We look at old pictures and reminisce about when she was too little to even hold her own head up, to her first steps, & her first smile with teeth! All of these little memories are so important, and these photographs have captured those moments for us forever. Photos are so precious and I want to be able to create that gift for other parents. I am so excited to be taking my photography business in this direction and I have made some changes to my web page. As much as it killed me to remove all of my wedding and engagement photos from my website, I had to do it to reflect what kind of photographs I want to offer. Take a look at my new website for newborn and child portraiture! Lots more new photos will be added as I continue photographing new little ones. I hope to see some familiar faces as they have grown as well. I have a few newborn sessions set up for the end of January/ February including twins! I am ecstatic! I will begin accepting new photo session bookings for Spring 2013 in the upcoming months. I have a lot of ideas and I am excited to share them with you soon! I will be revamping my portrait collections and prices as well and will have that information ready shortly. Thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and sweet messages that have been sent to my family over the past year. I am happy to say I am doing well and I am cancer free and loving being a mommy! I am looking forward to moving on to another chapter in our lives with my camera in hand :)

Love you all & I look forward to talking with you soon!

Meredith

New website look for Newborn & Child Portraiture!

Hello!

Hi Friends,

I have not posted an update in a VERY long time and I am quite behind on posting past family portrait sessions and weddings.  Hopefully in the near future I can get all caught up and share some of those beautiful events!

Unfortunately, I have not been accepting any new portait sessions or weddings at this time. I have been dealing with some health issues. I miss photography terribly!  However, I want to focus on healing and being with my family at this time.  I hope to be back to myself sometime next year and photographing portrait sessions and weddings in 2013!

For now I wanted to post an update on what’s been going on with me and my family over the last 10 months.  It has been a roller coaster filled with amazing joy. It has also been one of the hardest times my family and I have ever dealt with.  After the birth of our daughter, Elise, I was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. I had surgery at the end of October (2011) and I am currently doing chemo treatments. Elise has brought us such tremendous happiness and she has been our light through all of this. After completion of chemotherapy, I will have another reconstructive surgery. I hope to be finished with my treatments and on my way to healing by the end of this year. My friends and family have been an amazing support system for me and my husband, Phillip. We are so grateful for all of the thoughts and prayers that continuously come our way.

Lately I have been writing on a separate blog to discuss my surgeries, treatments, and our emotional struggles along the way over these past several months. If you are interested in reading about our journey, you are welcome to visit my blog:  My UC Story / The Klapp Family.  I will keep everyone updated on my progress on that blogsite.

Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully I will be seeing some of you through my camera lens next year!

Love,

Meredith

We’re having a baby!

Hi Everyone!
Well, I took a leave of absence for a little while….I photographed my last wedding in November and did a few more portrait sessions. Then I took a much needed break because I am pregnant! We are expecting a baby girl in May, and could not be more excited! Since I am also an elementary school art teacher, I was finding that after a full day of teaching I was purely exhausted!! I realized I needed to slow down a bit and just have one job for a while to take care of my body and this little bun in the oven. I am so glad I did because I have had a very difficult pregnancy. I’ve been pretty sick the whole time and have been categorized as “high risk”. But through all the stress and curve balls this pregnancy has thrown us, our baby girl is doing great! We are just waiting for her to make her appearance when she is ready! We are so excited and can’t wait to meet our little girl.
I will be starting portrait sessions back up in the fall and I am also accepting limited weddings. I miss it so much, and can’t wait to get back in the swing of things. And I am excited that I will have a new favorite little girl to photograph! :)
I have a lot of photo sessions and beautiful weddings I need to get posted on the blog too, so look out for some new posts soon!
Please contact me if you want to set up a session or book a wedding in the fall (September-November).
Love you all, and thank you to those who have been contacting me for sessions and being patient with me. I will officially be back, up and running in September!
See you soon,
Meredith
Here are a couple of pictures from my pregnancy. It’s hard to believe she is almost here.
